Darin Ames - This Is Darin Ames

The songs were arranged and conducted by Vinnie Falcone. If you don't recognize that name, allow us to elaborate: Vinnie Falcone was pianist and conductor for none other than Frank Sinatra! (A huge thanks to Antonia Bennett for making the introduction) As would be expected, the songs are breathtaking and the performances are spectacular. The twelve tunes were cut in four days and mixed and mastered at Audiomation in Vegas, engineered by Arty Congero.What was it like for Darin to work with Mr. Falcone? We asked...

"It was unbelievable. While on one hand I knew I was there to do a job and was very centered. On the other hand, there was a little voice in my head that popped up once in a while reminding me that I was actually singing with Frank Sinatra's pianist! It was a thrill of a lifetime and the high point to date of my career. I can't wait to work with Vinnie again."

The album was recorded in April of 1998 and was Darin's first recording of tunes from The Great American Songbook.
"Recording 'Just In Time' was a serious learning experience for me" explained Ames. "It was a completely different kind of session than what I had always previously been involved in, i.e. guitar oriented pop tunes. I learned a lot of good things as well as quite a few things that need to be done in a different fashion for treating this kind of material properly. In any case, it was a labor of love and while I like to think I've matured a great deal as a singer since then, I'm still proud of these tracks."
